At hearing the sudden squeal, Kate almost dropped the kettle completely, ending up cradling it to her chest, steam hitting her chin uncomfortably. She wrinkled her nose, the flush forming now not from embarrassment, but from the unwanted heat forming from the kettle which seemed to continue bubbling in her arms. Instantly she placed it down on the kitchen counter, rubbing at her chin. A whine escaped at the moist feel which had began to generate on the snow white surface of her chin. Unconsciously rubbing at it, she glanced to Kris as though nothing had happened, a twinkle in her deep set blue eyes. Tea darling? She cooed in a posh tone, offering an empty mug, the one that had been partially filled looking as though it had been brutally attacked by the boiling water. She gazed at it slightly in awe and frowned sadly. Awe poor cup She murmured, unaware of the red forming on her chin as she slowly gazed at the mug, watching the water in it. Her gaze clouded at this.

Kris’ eyes widened further as he watched her hug the scolding kettle in her arms, cradling it as though it were a child. KATE! he exclaimed, gawping in horror as he watched her intently. He quickly leaned off the table and headed in her direction. Are you ok? Oh Kate! Look at your chin! he said, examining it with such care. You silly Billy! he almost cried, looking at the shades of reds and pinks progress into a even deeper colour. Does it hurt? he asked, full concern on her. He had ignored the offer of tea as soon as he had seen her act out such foolishness by not only hugging an electrical appliance but a boiling hot one at that! His eyebrows furred as he worried anxiously over her clumsy actions. Be more careful, Kate. he said as he rushed to the sink, twisting the cold tap on and running to search for a cloth. Once he had found the cloth, he ran literally at the sink, knocking over a few boxes and ran the cloth under the tap before quickly scurrying towards Kate’s side, dabbing her face with the cold damp cloth. Please. he whispered so low that it would not have been audible to anyone else except himself.

At Kris' sudden yell of her name, Kate rose a brow, snapping out of her random revelation of thought. She tilted her head lightly, unaware of all his panic until as she slowly stared into the water once more, slightly noticing her reflection in it. Noticing the slight pink around her chin without a seconds doubt, she sighed and threw a bright grin in his direction. I wasn't aware I'd burnt myself She admitted softly, tone quiet as she watched him sprint around the area of the kitchen in attempts to help her. Her body visibly left the floor at the sound of the box colliding with the floor, but before she could bother to go place away the contents, she found the cloth being thrust into her face. She smiled weakly and gasped at the sudden stinging sensation which rushed through her as the cold material connected with her chin. Kris... She began in light protest, but found herself unable to finish, noticing the overpowering concern and horror mixed within in his own blue eyes. Sudden guilt twisted itself in her stomach, causing her to look away lightly. Sorry...

Kris twitched on hearing her apology; he was still unable to cope with her getting hurt after last time and it had just frightened him a little too much. He gentle pulled away the cloth as he noticed her weak smile form as he had held it to her burns. He looked deeply into her crystal blue eyes, heart melting as soon as she said his name; knees trembling too as she literally caused him to fall for her, hence why the boxes now lay in a heap on the ground. I’m sorry too….That I couldn’t be strong enough to protect you. he whispered under his breath, hoping she didn’t hear. He pulled her in for a hug, squeezing her slightly, the guilt also causing him pain. With a lot of If only I’d… comments whooshing around his thoughts as he clung onto her, unable to let her go. Did I hurt you? he pulled away, examining her chin yet again as his head tilt to the side in utter concern. You scared me… he informed her. I know you love tea a lot…but hugging the kettle? he shook his head, weak smile expressed. Kate… he too began with a name. He glanced down at the floor and sucked in a deep breath, then looking back up again. I love you…And I don’t want anything bad ever to happen to you again. That’s why I panicked just then and I too am sorry. he said, tone soft as a lump formed in his throat. Sorry for being such a noob. he apologised as he nose crinkled and his mouth curved at the edges.

Unfortunately for Kate, she failed to hear the small murmurs in which Kris had muttered under his breath at that moment. A quick look of stubborn frustration crossed her eyes like a flash - it being to quick of an emotion to have even noticed. Instantly the frustration came to an ease as she felt his arms embrace her close, a sense of warmth flooding through her. A dreamy smile formed as she almost nuzzled into his shoulder, the searing pain emitting from her chin immediately preventing her. No pain formed on her facial expression as she held his gaze, listening to him with a content, innocent expression. Since when have I been the smart one in this relationship She pointed out quietly, ignoring his question on pain as she reached to gently cup his cheek with her hand. Her thumb traced the laugh lines forming just near his eyes, her own smile growing sadly despite the croak within his voice. Just hear me out here... She began quietly, slowly holding onto his hand. I know you only want...to protect me She laughed quietly, hand tight around his as she motioned it towards her stomach. She placed his hand against it, smiling in faint awe. ...and this little madam or sir She giggled lightly and shook her head, eyes remaining on his face. But give me some credit! I'm not as stupid as to kill myself She laughed out at this, continuing to shake her head as she pulled his hand from her stomach with a gentle tug. With that, she placed a small kiss on his hand, smile weakening.

Kris’ throat was now raw in pain with the lump forming more rapidly; his knees were in mid wobble as she traced her warm thumb along his once happy face. Smart? he giggled, voice breaking off into a soft noise that was barely audible. He could not explain the worries that outgrew him and this made him even more anxious. He tried to fight the churning sensation in his stomach, feeling the urge to breakdown in tears and confess the painful emotions that he could not literally live without her. He squeezed her hand once placed in his and closed his eyes as she moved it gently to her tummy. You’re not stupid anyway. he informed her, mirroring her movement as he too shook his head; his eyes opening slowly. You said madam first…normally people say sir or madam… he added, mind trailing off into many thoughts. Do you think we might have a girl, Miss Twinstean? he asked, fascinated by the hand she now kissed. He smiled weakly, eyes dodging to her tummy, his knees weak as ever. He looked back up, gaze trapped with hers as he placed his hand on her face. Tracing the bags that lay under her tired eyes. You need some rest. he whispered, completely off topic.

Kate continuously shook her head lightly, keeping hold of the hand in which she had kissed gently. She smiled, a more timid one than usual as she shook her head once more, nuzzling her nose into his knuckles softly. ...I'm a mother psychic...I can foretell a child at just eight weeks She boasted, gently moving closer to him, despite that she now had the touch of his thumbs trailing under her eyes. You need a long hug followed by a snooze She retorted stubbornly, rolling her eyes in a childish manner at his note. Even though his voice had quietened drastically, the trembling emotion within it had finally reached Kate's ears. Such a heard notion forced her stomach to once again twinge with that familiar guilt she had seemed to feel for some time. No reason seemed to be behind it, but it's creator was often Kris' pain. She could hear his pain. A small silence followed this dawning as she slowly stared him in the eye, the two colours of blue clashing lightly as she stepped closer, expression growing serious. It's not good to pent up emotion She pointed out in a near enough mute tone, lips pursing lightly. ...Not good at all She finished, her voice nearing a whisper of its own.

Kris giggled as she said the word “mother”…it made him go warm and fuzzy inside. A radiant blush overtook his cheeks. He had had a smile expressed until she told him that he needed to sleep, with that he shook his head lightly and gulped. To sleep would mean he would have to close his eyes for a long time and not be able to watch over Kate and their unborn child. He twitched, head still in motion as he whispered: I can’t sleep. He informed her. This was the truth; he could not sleep as every time he closed his eyes he could see Lucy’s demented face haunting him…hurting them. He tried to shake his head more violently to attempt to erase the trauma that Lucy causes him. And it’s not good to throw your emotions at someone you care for. He pointed out to her, voice gentle as he spoke. He removed his tracing fingers and placed his hands in his pockets, shrugging as kissed her on the forehead. Are you ever going to make that cup of tea? he giggled, trying to change the mood.

Kate's eyes rolled lightly as she swatted Kris' arm in return of his excuses against sleep. Her lips remained pursed, not at all as gentle as they usually would. It was strange to see such softened features turning stern. ...Ok, firstly. Your getting some sleep She pointed out, hands slowly lowering to her hips. Secondly, unleash that emotion...I do it to you! She exclaimed, voice some what more in a whining fashion. She tried so much to get her point across, hands slowly tightening upon her hips as she just let out a small sound of frustration. It's not all...womanly hormonal shit so that's not my excuse for moody problems..so...UNLEASH! Unconsciously, her arms shot high into the air as she breathed out. In doing so, her hands landed on Kris' shoulders - cheeks puffed out. It took a long moment before Kate's mood began to even out as she slowly glanced to the kettle, watching what seemed to be the last of the steam escaping its grasp into the cool air of the kitchen. She stared slightly, hands trailing down Kris' chest before they hit her sides. Just for a third note...I think I will get that cup of tea, and then force you...you insomniac persony... Her gaze grew dark as she turned to look at him, neck seemingly loose. TO SLEEP! At that the kettle popped lightly as she poked her thumb onto the button, watching the water once again boil up.

Kris’ eyes widened with shock; she was quite stubborn when she wanted to be and this he acknowledged but the mood she had previously flared was very different from her natural self moods. It seemed to him that she only wanted what was best for him, but this is what he too wanted…but sleep was not part of that deal as it is something he does not want. If he was to explain that to her, it would just come out as a somewhat riddle just as it did in his own mind and they were his own words to speak. He soon realised that he was not even making sense in his mind and listened to her words, ignoring his random waffle that now flew around his thoughts. He creased his nose in disgust that she would get him to sleep…she was strong enough not only emotionally, but physically as well to get him to do what she wished. He shook his head lightly, disagreeing with her and as he went to speak, no words passed his lips. He desperately wanted to tell her the reasons as to why he never wanted to close his eyes, but to tell her would be to throw away the only strength he had left inside of him. He closed his eyes and whispered: I must be strong and carry on… he tried to convince himself but he was not making any sense. The smell of the now brewed tea hit his senses and his eyes shot open. I’m confused. he announced and blinked profusely. His head tilted to the side as he felt the sudden urge to sit on the ground in which he now stood.

Kate remained quite, seemingly ignoring Kris as she finally poured that long awaited cup of tea, eyes closing as she inhaled deep in joy. A seeming aura of calm flooded through out her body as she held the cup close, once more forgetting the burning sensation which ravished her chin horrifically. No thoughts passed into her mind as the steam literally clouded it of anything important which had been discussed just previously. After yet another moment of silence, she sipped it gently, the warmth licking at her lips as though small beings where in want of burning her more. Ignoring this once again familiar sensation, she continued to take a large gulp, soundless as the liquid burnt her inner throat in a violent rush of heat. A tiny smile graced Kate's features, eyes closed as she let out another sigh. Just..have a snooze...for me? She pleaded quietly after allowing the burning feeling to calm. She glanced to him slowly, unsure to why her stomach suddenly churned at an uncomfortable pace. A small wince crossed her, but ignorance prevailed. Please?

Kris watched his girlfriend intently as she poured the hot substance into a large mug and smiled at the fact that she was now quite content with the drink she so often desired. Again he shook his head in disagreement that she wanted him to sleep. I can’t sleep. he repeated as he looked down at the floor, and breathed in the scent of the freshly made contents in her mug. He shrugged his shoulders and rolled his eyes at himself and how strange he was now acting. He kept his head in motion as he slowly waddled back to the table to sit down; he pulled up a seat and perched himself down. He rested his chin on the table surface; pushing a box off the table slowly and watching it fall quickly to the ground. The excess belongings obtained in the box fell to the ground with a loud sound that echoed around the room in which they where in. This causing Kris to jump slightly; he squeezed the edge of the table and then placed his hand over his heart to feel the beats in which it now thumped in his ribcages. He counted how quickly it was…the fast rhythm worried him. He knew that he needed his rest, but this is not what he wanted. He groaned at himself and held his head in his hands, groan getting louder and louder each time his mind thought of her face…Lucy’s haunting face. He bashed his head off the table and then mumbled: I see her face. he informed Kate in a mumble. She’s everywhere I go…I can’t escape her. I know she is out there…And I can’t be sure whether she wants revenge or not. he muttered, tone angry at himself.

Kate had almost lost her loose grip upon the hot mug at the sound of the crashing, her eyes gazing at the contents of the box as if this could calm her rapidly beating heart. It was though she had been winded physically, the impact of the noise literally knocking her back into the counter. The startled expression didn't leave her delicate face as she once more glanced up, tilting her head. The cramping sensation grew instantly in her stomach, mouth twisting into the smallest of scowls. Unconsciously, she seemingly failed to hear Kris' small confession of his worries, but her ears latched onto the angry tone. Seeing as she didn't hear what he'd spoken of, Kate once more felt herself to blame. Ignoring this squirm of guilt which formed, she placed the mug down - unaware of her slightly trembling hands. Hearing yet another bang caused her to yelp, tone high pitched as she stared in disbelief at Kris, watching him repeatedly thud his head off the wooden surface of the table. Her steps where slow and steady as she slowly made her way to the mess of the box, crouching down balanced as she made way to picking up the objects. Another wince echoed through her body. Her silence continued as she picked up one of the smaller objects, gazing at it in thought. Amazingly, it was is if her brain had finally wrapped itself around Kris' words of confession, her hands now tracing the object in a caring touch. Be positive...and life will be ok She whispered, tone chiming as she placed the object back in the box with extreme tenderness. Not once did she life her gazing, feeling as though she'd brought on the new anger and depression in the room.

Kris remained silent as he looked down at his loving girlfriend who was now collecting the once fallen objects that had scattered among the floor during the impact. Kris buried his head in his hands and whispered how sorry he was for his outburst. He was ashamed of himself and found the newly clear tears rolling down his cheeks. With that he smiled but still allowed the tears to fall. He slowly got to his feet, kneeling down beside Kate and gently grasping her face in his hands. He kissed her plump lips with passion and the hugged her tightly as he again informed her of how sorry he was. He kept hold of her in his muscle-y arms, squeezing her body ever so gently into his; cradling her whilst he motioned a slight rocking backwards and forwards as he did so. He breathed in the scent of her and sighed loudly. He again repeated his words of apology and released her calmly to stand to his feet. I shall be positive for you and our baby. he whispered before he left the room, heading towards the couch. As he arrived there, he laid his head on a small comfortable pillow and closed his eyes. With ease he drifted off into a deep sleep, leaving his mind to wander the traumas that they had come across back in Harrow.

At feeling Kris’ presence closer to her, Kate shook her head, smiling weakly. It shocked her to find his lips once again against hers, eyes widening lightly in small shock. The new warmth of his body against hers found her fears once more melting away as she simply nodded in return to his multiple sorrys which were spoken in her direction. The rocking seemed to settle the uncomfortable churning in her stomach, but it still remained – much to her concern. She raised a brow slowly as she felt him pull away, his footsteps echoing out in the kitchen as he left its warming aura. She sighed, smile still faintly visible as she continued to pick up the scattered items, each touch upon them delicate in doing so. Within the long moments that passed in doing so, Kate began to think of things...many things. Events which had happened previously, both bad and good. The bad formed a sudden cringe, while the good contrasted this with a rush of loving warmth. She smiled slightly and let out a gentle sigh, picking up the box from the ground, before placing it on the wood table that she’d previously noticed Kris crashing his head into over and over. ...little idiot She mused gently, patting the box before once again grabbing at the mug. The contents had sadly cooled, but this didn’t prevent her from sipping at it quietly, her stance now content as she did so. The only thing which ruined the sudden peace was the harsh churn which caused her to bend over in pain. Scowling, she placed the mug down and glanced to her stomach, eyes showing disbelief. You ickle pain She murmured softly, patting her stomach. All I ask is that you put up with me drinking tea! Anything else you can hate, but not tea She continued to scold her stomach in a motherly tone, still unhappy that her stomach was continuing to churn. No, it wasn’t strange to be talking to an 8 week old embryo in her stomach. How could it be? She smiled wide at this. My ickle pain She whispered in awe.
