Most normal kids dream jobs are usually being a fireman or police man. But for this group of kids the dream was much different. They aren’t quiet what you’d call normal either, but they’re perfectly fine like that. All these kids ever wanted to be growing up were musicians. Not the average job, you’d hear about, but for these kids, they already knew music, they already lived off it. It was all they could do, knowing they were born to be something, but not knowing if they would achieve that goal, it was hard on most kids. Since childhood they’ve practiced and sacrificed to get were they are today. They are great at what they do, and that’s why they do it, they love music!
For most kids, the dream of being a musician doesn’t work out. After all, the world of famous people is very demanding and when people can’t hold up to those demands, well you know, they tend to fade out, or worse. Musicians come and go, being big for a little then fading out to nothing, but that’s not what these kids want. They aren’t in it just for the fame or money, they are here for the fun, and experience of playing in front of hundreds of people. It’s always been their dream and it may be their own chance to get to live it out, so why not try when they get the chance.
For some kids, the chance will finally come. The music industry was getting old, same old people, nothing new. They needed new people and a new sound. So why not try and find some new stuff. So that’s what they did. They big record labels got together and set out a contest. They were going to try and get the most talented young bands they could find and try and advertise and put them on tour. Maybe a few would hit it off big and they could get something good out of it, money. The kids who came, they weren’t interested in money, just getting known for what they were born to do. So a large group of people tried out before the judges of record labels. Tons were turned down for lack of talent or not enough talent, but for a lucky group of eight bands, they moved on. They were good, great even, and they got put on tour.
The record companies planned to put them on tour and record the band their first cd. If things turned out good, then they’d move on from there. For these lucky kids, their lifelong dream of performing the music they loved came true. What more could they ask for? When drugs and alcohol are introduced, things start to get a little out of hand though. Bands are being turned into everyday celebrities, but they’ll make it through, if they hold onto what they really entered this for, the music. Are any of the bands going to hit it off big? If so who? Was this contest worth it after all?
